Oncology massage is an adapted form of massage for people affected by cancer. The approach takes account of your current health, treatment history, symptoms, energy levels and any areas that require particular care.
Pressure, positioning, treatment length and the areas worked on can all be modified so that the session is appropriate and comfortable for the individual.
A considered approach
Before treatment, relevant health information is discussed so the massage can be adapted appropriately. This may include current or previous cancer treatment, surgery, lymph-node removal, radiotherapy, medication, skin changes, fatigue, pain or other health considerations.
Oncology massage is intended to support comfort and wellbeing. It is not a treatment for cancer and does not replace medical or oncology care.
